What should I say?

The terrible events that unfolded on Friday left me saddened and fumbling for words. How can you even begin to respond to such things? What can you say to people struggling with grief and questions? I found this article written by Rev Emily Heath, a former chaplain in an emergency department of a children’s hospital, very helpful. Although the article is primarily intended for those walking with grieving parents, I think it is equally helpful for anyone who finds themselves talking with children about this and similar events.

About Sharon Harding

I was born in England and immigrated to Canada almost 30 years ago. A graduate of Gloucestershire University (B.Ed.), I have been involved in children’s ministry since I was 16. Over the past 12 years I have written for a variety of Christian Education curriculum resources. I also write a blog at rediscoveredfamilies.com encouraging parents to build strong connections with their children. When I am not working I enjoy painting, reading, and pottering around the Internet.
