Grace flowed

"Grace Cathedral" Some rights reserved (CC BY-NC 2.0) by Brook Ward. Sourced from FlickrIt’s been a rough couple of weeks in the parish I serve.

It’s also been a profoundly grace-filled time.

Circumstances invited us into prayer with and for one another.

I have witnessed a great many things these weeks, all of which can be understood as (unexpected) expressions of grace flowing. (To be sure, the actions did not cause the grace, but were done through faith – and God blessed us with grace flowing.)

Grace flowed when prayers were offered for strangers.

Grace flowed when those strangers were welcomed as parish kin.

Grace flowed when supportive messages were sent.

Grace flowed when hugs were shared.

Grace flowed when patience was practiced.

Grace flowed when care was shown to care-givers.

Grace flowed when forgiveness was granted freely.

Grace flowed when compassion was abundant.

Grace flowed when those inconvenienced by changes never complained.

Grace flowed when our focus was kept on God.

I witnessed this grace; I received this grace; I was amazed by this grace.

For everyone whose actions have bestowed the grace of God, wherever and whenever it was needed: bless you.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God” ~Eph 2.8
