So much happens in youth ministry across the country in the month of May…
60 Youth and leaders from British Columbia and Alberta gathered at the Sorrento Centre for the Young Sojourners
Weekend. Phil Colvin (Diocesan Youth Coordinator, New Westminster) said:
I’ve just returned from a great Young Sojourners retreat at the Sorrento Centre. It was fantastic spending the long weekend with youth from across the province and from Alberta, discovering our gifts and sending each other out to start building the stories of what God is doing in our lives. This picture is me with Jill Thompson, Youth Coordinator for the Diocese of Calgary, who brought a wonderful group of youth and leaders – it was great to get to know them all !
On the first weekend in May, Youth in the Diocese of Niagara gathered at St Luke’s Burlington for their annual Youth Synod. On the floor for discussion was everything from environmental issues (from worm composting to tar sands), living wage and minimum wage, engaging youth in traditional media (like, the Diocesan paper), education on world religions, arts and culture, internet censorship and more! Rev. Elliott Siteman (in photo, below) shared scripture through Godly Play (and technology!) during worship times. The twitter feed was active ALL weekend – here’s a sample:

In New West this weekend we also have our exciting production of Godspell, put together by a new community of young adults from inside and outside Anglican church land! If you’re in Vancouver on Friday night at 7 or Saturday at 1 and 7, you should come along to Christ Church Cathedral on Georgia and Burrard. It’s going to be a blast!
