He is Risen!
Al….nope, not yet.
Today we enter into the Triduum, that holy time of recalling the events leading up to Jesus’ death and resurrection. Many of us are struggling to find one more creative way to talk about resurrection.
One year, with a small congregation, following the Easter gospel (I don’t recall which one), I asked the congregation to tell the story back to me. What they repeated back was a compilation of the four gospel stories. We then spoke about the emphasis of each gospel.
A few of my preacher friends are focussing on one line of the readings. I think this could give fodder for sermons for the rest of my days. Here are some lines that stand out for me.
- God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him
- Be glad and rejoice forever in what I am creating
- “His mercy endures for ever.”
- “…we do not know…”
Is there a resurrection message your community is longing to hear on Sunday?
