My last post dealt with the issue of pop culture’s current fascination with all things porn-like. I ended the post with a series of questions, pondering what it would be like for the church to engage in this issue. Here is my answer.
Kanye West spent his premier appearance on Kim’s reality show insulting her choice of clothing. Then, because this is what any loving boy-friend would do, West threw out her clothes and paid for a whole new wardrobe fit to his own liking.
This trend toward self-criticism isn’t just damaging on an emotional level, but also on a spiritual one. Each time we compare ourselves to others, and find ourselves incomplete, we disregard the uniqueness of the person God has created us to be. Continue reading
