they were all gathered together in one place…

A blessed Pentecost to all!!  I would be anxious to hear who you might have be able to join in prayer with on Pentecost?Tongues of fire or even better, who you might be hoping to pray with at some point during the season of Pentecost? I was reminded of this gift of the Holy Spirit as I was praying with a family in a very historic Presbyterian cemetery.

To be “together in one place…”
To have “different tongues” proclaiming a common hope

Spring is a great time to plant seeds for such an ecumenical harvest!  I was so pleased a month ago to receive a call from the United Church.  Because of an event we invited them to some months ago they asked if we wished to partner with them on bringing in a speaker from the U.S..  After talking to the Bishop’s office we were all in!

I have no doubt that this will be an event that blesses far more than Anglicans and United Church members! And we together will be blessed!  Not going to give out the details just yet!!

Where it is that God is calling us together?  Is it in prayer and praise? clergy formation? VBS?…  We do need one another.  Thanks Jesse for giving me a prod after Easter to re-engage in “community”  Great way to honour Pentecost! Hoping that the Holy Spirit sets us on fire to be one!

About Craig Bowers

I am a child of the St. Lawrence Seaway. It was for me a place of encounter for all the many faces of faith that came into this great land of Canada . I was a teacher and stone carver before being ordained in the Diocese of Ottawa in 2002. Presently, I am in a team ministry in Kanata. Serving as the diocese Ecumenical-Interfaith Officer has been a great joy and has allowed me to work internationally with the Greek Orthodox Church and host interfaith events in Ottawa. Being part of “The Community” will be an absolute gift in drawing us further into being one in Christ!
